Competition Invitation to Schools

Invitation to Schools

Dear Australian Schools, Dancing Industry Leaders and Business Owners

The team at the ASC hopes you are having a fruitful week and have been working up a crowd on the dance floor.

We are so excited to announce (if you are not already aware), that the Australian Salsa Classic (ASC) is on again this year to find Australia’s best to represent our country in the World Salsa Competition.  To make this a successful and world-class competition, we need the support of key individuals within the scene such as you, your school and the utilisation of your networks.  To this day, the salsa scene would not be where it is without your contributions.

For this reason, we would like to personally invite you and take this opportunity to tell you a bit about what’s been going on behind the scenes.

Below is information about what the ASC team are doing to move forward and take the event to the next level.  Also included are ways you can get involved and the benefits available to recognise your support to all the competitors of the ASC.

In line with the ASC commitment to advocate the “UNITY” of the Australian Salsa Scene, we have taken numerous measures to ensure that the coordination of the event is transparent and open.  In a snap shot, we have:

  • Taken feedback from various members of the Salsa Scene and implemented key elements to improve the event;
  • Involved several major schools in the finalisation of the ASC competition Rules & Regulations;
  • Reviewed the judging criteria for all competition categories;
  • Appointed an ASC Advisory Committee to assist in overseeing the planning and management of the ASC as well as maintaining openness;
  • Begun to update the ASC website to provide a one stop shop for all the information and answers to any questions regarding the event;
  • Removed the “Schools Trophy” to promote healthy competition and the encouragement of peer support regardless of what school or state competitors are from, and
  • Relocated the ASC to a timeless venue: The Petersham Town Hall <, insert link here>; a well-maintained Art Deco style venue with plenty of character.  No stoned has been unturned, all details have been considered to ensure an ideal preparation and stage area for competitors as well as a convenient and welcoming location for guests and attendees.
