FAQ

QU: Can I compete in more than one division of the ASC?

ANS: Yes. Contestants can compete in a total of two divisions as long as one of these is the Teams division and the relevant registrations fees are paid for both divisions. You can not compete more than once in the same division. For example, you can not compete in two different teams or in the Professional Couples On1 division twice with two different partners or in both the Professional Couples On2 and the Cabaret Divisions, or in the Youth and the Amateur divisions etc.

QU: Do I have to qualify at my resident State Title?

ANS: Professional On1 Couples, Professional On2 Couples and Amateur Couples must all qualify by winning either 1st, 2nd or 3rd place at their resident State Title. You must compete in the State Title event held in the State in which you live. Division 1st place winners from the 2009 ASC Finals gain direct entry to the 2010 ASC Finals as long as couples remain with the same partners. Competitors competing in the Cabaret, Youth and Teams divisions need not pre-qualify at the State Titles.

QU: The State I live in is not holding a qualifying State Title or I am from overseas. Can I still compete?

ANS: Yes. You can compete at any, one, State Title.

QU: I did not compete at my State Title event. Can I still compete at the Final Qualifying Round in Sydney?

ANS: No. You must compete at your relevant State Title first for the opportunity at a second chance to qualify in the Final Qualification Round to be held on Friday 15th October at Latin Motion Studios, Sydenham NSW.

QU: Can I do lifts, dips and tricks?

ANS: Each division has different requirements with regard to lifts, dips and tricks. Please read the Rules & Regulations carefully to ensure that you do not lose points for infractions.

QU: Do I need to register and pay to compete at the State Titles as well as the ASC Finals?

ANS: Yes and no. You only need to pay the competition registration fee once at the State Title Level. This does not apply if you are unsuccessful at the State Titles and wish to compete in the Final Qualification Round, re registration fees will apply. If you are a successful place at the state level, you will only need to re-register for the Finals to confirm your attendance with a small administration fee of $12. Competitors are NOT required to purchase a Competitors Pass for the ASC Finals national event. Please ensure you are aware of the relevant Dates & Deadlines to ensure that you do not miss cut off dates.
